My name is Lucy Pecora, and I’ve been an Artist, Art Educator, and Curriculum Developer based in Marin County, California since 2017.
The child of two artists, I was a born maker, picking up everything from drawing and writing to sewing and film. At sixteen, I embarked on my first expedition of independent study to Timbuktu, Mali. That experience sparked a lifelong fascination with nomadic cultures and foreshadowed the nomadic lifestyle I would later adopt in pursuit of learning traditional arts across the U.S. and around the world.
In 2022, I founded Art Club in Marin County—an open, process-based art experience where children are free to explore materials and ideas on their own terms. Created in response to the lack of unstructured creative opportunities in schools, Art Club aims to help children connect creativity with confidence, adaptability, and inner strength.
At the heart of my teaching philosophy is a deep reverence for each child’s natural abilities and inclinations. It's my belief that if we let kids show us how they shine, we can guide them towards autonomy and authentic self-worth.
Today, I primarily focus on puppet-making—or more broadly, the art of bringing life to the inanimate. My work blends play, craftsmanship, and storytelling, and reflects my belief in art as an anchor to one’s true self—something that helps us value who we are and what we have to offer the world.
